POLICE are searching for the culprits thought to be growing cannabis in Hoyland after heaps of leaves and shoots were dumped outside a charity shop.

The leaves and shoots - said to be a by-product of growing the plant - were covered in a sheet at the back door of the Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity Shop in King Street in Hoyland.

Sergeant Phil Jenkins said it was evidence of cannabis production.

He said: "We are interested in whoever is dumping because obviously they are growing."
