VANDALS broke in to a local primary school and ruined hundreds of meals meant for the children and a special garden they had created.

They climbed on the roof and turned off ventilation systems at Shawlands Primary, Shaw Lane, affecting the refrigeration of hundreds of meals.

Deputy headteacher Lee McLure said the culprits had caused damage to classrooms, the shed and ruined a garden project the students had done.

“When the kids saw it was their project that has been wrecked they were really upset,” he said.

“They have done all the trees and planters and a school garden. The vandals have wrecked it.”

Potts Bakers of Stairfoot stepped in to help when they heard the children were left with no dinner.

Police are investigating.
