A CYCLIST was seriously injured when a passenger reached out of a passing car and pushed him off his bike.

Dave Scargill, 58, of Albany Close, Wombwell, was riding at about 30 miles per hour on Bilham Lane in Hooton Pagnall near Thurnscoe last Thursday when a black Vauxhall Corsa pulled up beside him.

The passenger leaned out of the window and shoved Dave from his bike.

He is still in Barnsley Hospital after suffering a broken collarbone, two broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Dave runs a business as a gas fitter and is now worried that he won't be able to work for a while. 

He is an experienced cyclist and is a member of the Birdwell Wheelers and the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists.

He regularly competes in races across the country.
