HOSPITAL food has improved so much over the last three years that it has been ranked as excellent in a survey.

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has published the results from the patient environment action team (PEAT) inspections.

It was praised for its standards of food, privacy and dignity and general environment.

Spokesman Lorraine Christopher said: “These scores really showcase all the hard work that has been put in to bring about these improvements.

”The inspections were carried out by PEAT teams, made up of patient representatives, hospital staff, non executive directors and a member of the governing council. They inspected standards across a range of patient services including food, cleanliness, infection control, and patient environment (bathroom areas, décor, lighting, floors and patient access) and scored them against nationally set criteria."
