WITNESSES are being sought following a common assault at a train station.

On July 26, a teenage girl is reported to have grabbed a man’s earphones from his ears and thrown his phone onto the floor following an argument at Barnsley train station on platform 2.

Following this, the girl boarded a train to Leeds.

The girl has since been identified; however officers are appealing for further witnesses to come forward so they can establish the full circumstances behind the incident.

A spokesman from the British Transport Police said: "If you saw the incident contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 516 of 26/07/19."
