A BIKER was rushed to hospital with a broken femur, fractured pelvis, fractured wrist and internal injuries after a smash in Bolton-on-Dearne last week. Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened on Furlong Road at 6.30am on August 30. It is thought that a grey Vauxhall Zafira was following a bus, travelling towards Manvers. The Zafira has then turned right into Prospect Road across the path of a black C125 TMEC motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction towards Goldthorpe. The motorbike and the Zafira collided, throwing the motorcyclist from his vehicle. The rider was found without his helmet but police believe this was fastened at the time of the collision. The motorcyclist, a Goldthorpe man in his early 40s, was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital where his condition was described as ‘serious’. The Zafira driver, a 43-year-old local man, sustained minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment. Anyone with information about the collision should contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 130 of Tuesday, 30 August.
