Wellgate Noticeboard
Trips Out
The school have recently been on trips to, the Deep, Knowlesy Safari park, and the older children went to Scarborough after designing hotels and attractions for the town. The whole school visited the theatre to see a pantomime and went lazar questing. Some year four children went to Hesley Wood Scout Camp and stayed over night; they had a go at activities such as climbing, indoor caving, obstacle course, archery and took part in singing at the campfire. Year five are visiting Winmarligh Hall where they will take part in outdoor activities and stay for the weekend.
Community Parents
The school offers activities for parents from the whole community. Our Community Parents run a parent and toddler group, we have a free coffee morning every week and run comfort clubs, the school offers Credit Union banking facilities which encourage children and parents to save, withdrawals can also be made from the school. We also offer free baby massage, and free parenting programmes.
School Ethos
The ethos of the school is for every child to reach their full potential, this may not be academic, and it could be through activities provided within the curriculum and after school. The school runs after school football sessions, and takes part in football tournaments with other schools; children also take part in rounders, netball, and tag rugby, we provide after school karate sessions. At the end of the academic year children who have represented the school are presented with medals and trophies.
Each half term the school runs a talent show, where children are encouraged to perform skills to help build confidence and self esteem.
Children can access a programme for children from separated families called ‘DAWN’ this helps them to accept that they are not alone and they can talk about their feelings.
Events and News
At Wellgate we have lots of after school clubs which change each half term. Our most recent are zumba, French, dance, dodgeball, cheerleading and rounders.
We held our sports days on June 9 and 10 and our Summer Fair was held on June 26 with many competitions, food and drink stalls, tombola, white elephant, police dog shows, visit by the fire engine, sports events and much more.
We Are Wellgate
The children, staff, parents and Governors welcome you to our school. We have a dedicated team of dynamic and vibrant staff whose priorities are the same – the children at our school.
At Wellgate every child matters and we believe that each one is entitled to the best education. We want each child to be safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, achieve economic wellbeing and make a positive contribution. Through teaching children to make the right choices, we strive to develop caring, thoughtful citizens of tomorrow.
The school ethos is one of mutual respect for everyone regardless of gender, race, culture or beliefs. We aim to develop curiosity, imagination and creativity working individually and in teams.
We hope that the things you see will give you a flavour of the rich and varied life your child will enjoy, but the best way to see our school in action is to come and visit us.
