Tommy Taylor Time of show Northern Soul and Motown - Thursday, 7pm to 10pm
Tommy Taylor Northern Soul and Motown
Tommy has been playing music for over 45 years - he still works five nights a week and says he loves the business.

He has spent most of his working years in Barnsley and says he’s proud to have worked with some great professional DJs and entertainers. He’s friends with radio stalwarts like Simon Hirst, Steve White, Mike West, Graham Steventon and says he's excited by WAB radio as - he thinks - it’s the future of broadcasting.

Tommy plays a mixture of 60’s, Northern Soul and motown.
Ade Bozzay Time of show Ade Mocks the Week - Friday, 7pm to 10pm
Ade Bozzay All Genres
Ade should be called ‘Eclectic Ade’ - he’s not got a particular style of music, he loves them all.

Ade has worked on many local radio stations in the past - he is unconventional and outspoken with a skewed sense of humour that knows very few taboos.

His show is usually him spouting irreverent nonsense with his side kick Monkeyboy, taking a sideways swipe at celebrity and modern culture.
Mark Booker Time of show Weekly Theme Show - Wednesday, 8pm to 10pm
Mark Booker Oldies and chart music
Mark is WAB Radio’s music egg-head - he is your guy for music trivia. He has lived in Barnsley all his life and been a bus driver for the last 25 years.

His true passion is DJing and music and he’s known for his Thursday night theme shows which prompts much interaction from people suggesting songs.

He’s on a mission to play every number one single from 1950 to now - we reckon he might still be at it in 100 years.
Nicky Hyde Time of show As and when
Nicky Hyde News
Nicky’s music trivia sucks, but we keep her around because she can talk a lot.

Nicky is the journalist who runs We Are Barnsley and she will be seen doing the serious side of WAB radio. If we do phone ins with councillors or police chiefs, expect to see her behind the mike asking all the nosy questions.

But don’t ask her about a song - because she won't have a clue.
Peter White Time of show Nostalgia Show - Wednesday, 7pm to 8pm
Peter White 50’s up to Modern
Peter has enjoyed music ever since he was in the airforce. He first started his radio career in 1974.

He is now retired but Peter loves anything old school. His popular Thursday night nostalgia show is one of We Are Barnsley’s most talked about shows - he’s covered everything from school memories to grocery shopping.
Young Jonno Time of shows Chart and Classic Show - Saturday, 12pm to 5pm Drive Time Classics - Sunday, 12pm to 4pm
Young Jonno All Genres
Jonathan Exley - also known as Young Jonno - is a music producer as well as a WAB DJ.

He got involved in the music game in 2001 and since then has had a passion for his music. He plays a variety of music and - on the last Saturday of every month - plays a mix of dance, trance and techno.
Wesley Time of show Sunday, 4pm to 7pm
Wesley Rock
Wesley is obsessed with high energy rock music.

A bit of a rocker himself, he loves anything with a guitar based sound. Despite the rock edge, Wes is We Are Barnsley’s Mr Nice Guy. He will play your requests until we kick him out of there.

In the daylight hours, Wes is the chief photographer for the Barnsley Chronicle.
Graham Stevens Time of shows Chart and Chat - Thursday, 6pm to 7pm Gear up for the weekend - Saturday, 9am to 12pm
Graham Stevens All Genres
Graham runs a social group for the elderly in Wombwell and arranges trips out for them. He is a favourite on WAB Radio and is known for his eclectic taste in music. He’s a straight-talking, no-nonsense type and has been nominated for an award for his voluntary work.
Derek Jones Time of show Chart and Chat - Tuesday, 6pm to 10pm
Derek Jones
Derek’s first two loves were football and music - he didn’t make it a professional footballer so became a DJ instead.

He started DJing in school, during his lunch breaks, to raise money for charities and then got an apprenticeship DJing at Bailey’s Night Club in Monk Bretton, working with acts like Showaddywaddy, The Real Thing, Les Dawson, and Cannon & Ball.

In 1987, he joined nightclub Japanese Whispers where he stayed for five years, working with acts like Sinitta, Sonia Pete Waterman and even Take That in 1991 - he paid them £50 to appear at an under 18s disco night.

For the last twenty years, he’s been at the Burntwood Court Hotel in Brierley. His show is on Wednesdays, with his son Kieran who plays indie, rock and punk from 6 - 7pm.

From 7 - 10 Derek takes over, playing a mix of hits through the decades, along with dedications and requests.
Kieran Bestall Time of show Indie, Rock & Retro Show feat. Local Music - Monday, 7pm to 10pm
Kieran Bestall
Credit Manager by day for a local manufacturing firm, Kieran first started DJ-ing at Regents Park Nightclub in 1997 as part of their weekly ‘Student Night’ each Wednesday.

Playing everything from Indie to Punk, Nu-Metal to Classic rock with a sprinkling of pop gems old & new thrown in for good measure, he stayed there until the club closed in 2002.

As well as playing in a number of bands throughout this period he also took to the decks playing his favourite tunes in pubs and clubs such as The Ticket Office, Hedonism and the Fealty & Firkin.

He’s a keen twitter user (his handle is @ramone78) and he is on the look-out for local acts to feature on his show. Kieran wants to unearth the local talent we have in Barnsley and give them a showcase.

If you'd like to feature on his show, email nicky@wearebarnsley.com
