Tommy Taylor Northern Soul and Motown
Tommy has been playing music for over 45 years - he still works five nights a week and says he loves the business.

He has spent most of his working years in Barnsley and says he’s proud to have worked with some great professional DJs and entertainers. He’s friends with radio stalwarts like Simon Hirst, Steve White, Mike West and Graham Steventon and says he’s excited by WAB Radio as - he thinks - it’s the future of broadcasting.

Tommy plays a mixture of music from the 60s, Northern Soul and Motown.
Wes Hobson Time of show Sunday, 4pm to 7pm
Wes Hobson Rock
Wesley is obsessed with high energy rock music.

A bit of a rocker himself, he loves anything with a guitar based sound. Despite the rock edge, Wes is We Are Barnsley’s Mr Nice Guy. He will play your requests until we kick him out of there.

In the daylight hours, Wes is the chief photographer for the Barnsley Chronicle.

Derek Jones Time of show Chart and Chat - Tuesday, 7pm to 9pm
Derek Jones
Derek’s first two loves were football and music - he didn’t make it as a professional footballer so became a DJ instead!

He started DJing in school during his lunch breaks to raise money for charities and then got an apprenticeship DJing at Bailey’s in Monk Bretton, working with acts like Showaddywaddy, The Real Thing, Les Dawson, and Cannon and Ball.

In 1987, he joined nightclub Japanese Whispers where he stayed for five years, working with acts like Sinitta, Sonia, Pete Waterman and even Take That in 1991 - he paid them £50 to appear at an under-18 disco night.

For the last twenty years, he’s been at the Burntwood Court Hotel in Brierley. His show is on Tuesdays from 7-10pm.
Kieran Bestall Time of show Indie, Rock & Retro Show feat. Local Music - Monday, 7pm to 9pm
Kieran Bestall
Credit manager by day for a local manufacturing firm, Kieran first started DJing at Regents Park Nightclub in 1997 as part of their weekly student night every Wednesday.

Playing everything from indie to punk, nu-metal to classic rock with a sprinkling of pop gems old and new thrown in for good measure, he stayed there until the club closed in 2002.

As well as playing in a number of bands throughout this period he also took to the decks playing his favourite tunes in pubs and clubs such as The Ticket Office, Hedonism and the Fealty and Firkin.

He’s a keen Twitter user (his handle is @ramone78) and he is on the lookout for local acts to feature on his show. Kieran wants to unearth the talent we have in Barnsley and give them a showcase.

If you’d like to feature on his show, email josh@wearebarnsley.com and we'll arrange something!

Barnsley born ’n’ bred, he has a major passion for music and hopes to introduce to Barnsley some of the best new music out there, as well as some classics dropped in for good measure!

For a while now Jamie has been the witty sidekick to Derek Jones on Tuesday evenings right here on WAB Radio and he decided it was time to branch out to his own show.

You can catch Jamie on Fridays from 7-9pm where he will be playing a mixture of fresh new music, as well as some classic dance anthems.

All this in an effort to get the WAB Radio listeners warmed up and ready for the weekend ahead!
