I’ll never forget the old pie n pea caravan on the market. If you look across from where the civic is now there were steps going down into the market and it was at the bottom of these steps. Oldfield’s was their name and I think they still have a place upstairs in the market now.  When i was 15 (I am now 54) me and my mate Dave Steele used to go in every Saturday before a game at Oakwell n buy a half portion of pork pie n peas.. the peas were like water but I’ve never tasted any as good yum yum. And who will ever forget the roundabout on the market when we all fought to be upstairs on the front seat of the double Decker bus…. It gave me as much pleasure taking my grandchildren there years later as well and seeing the old roundabout hadn’t changed one bit… Another memory that comes to mind was the old threepenny bit stall on the bus station that sold newspapers and when we were teenagers we used it as a meeting point on are dates.. by I cud gu on forever lad lol

I rememember the really tall building to the left of this shot where they used to store all the market stalls when the feast came and a cafe close by if I remember right.
