M1 closed in both directions as police hunt suspect
THE M1 was closed in both directions between Junctions 37 and 38 earlier this afternoon as police tried to locate a suspect.
Officers were called at around 12.15pm following reports that a man armed with a baseball bat had damaged a property and a vehicle on Ballfield Lane in Kexborough.

SEVERAL overnight closures on the M1 have been announced over the next week to allow for repairs and improvement work.
Motorists are being warned to expect slight delays on the M1 near Barnsley tonight.

A TWO-YEAR ‘visionary project’ is set to start next year to improve congestion at Stairfoot roundabout and other problem areas.
