A NEW pool hoist has been fitted at Royston Leisure Centre, making the pool more accessible for people with disabilities.
The hoist which is situated at the shallow end of the main pool has been purchased with funding secured from Barnsley Council by Barnsley Inclusive Sport and Fitness Forum (BISFF).
A pool hoist has also been fitted at Wombwell pool.
Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesman, said: “The hoists are welcome additions to both pools. Swimming pools should be used by the whole community and by making them more accessible, I hope that more people will be encouraged to go for a dip.”
