Library Closure
DARTON ward library and information centre in the Mapplewell and Staincross village hall will be closed from March 22 to March 29.
DARTON ward library and information centre in the Mapplewell and Staincross village hall will be closed from March 22 to March 29.
This is to enable the necessary alterations to take place in order for Barnsley Connects to offer services from the building.
When the library reopens, additional services will be on offer such as advice and guidance on benefits and taxation, together with providing access to services for Berneslai Homes.
Customers will also be able to use the facilities to make contact with a range of other council services such as highways, licensing, Neighbourhood Pride, planning, social services, and waste management.
The libraries and information service will also continue as before but with new extended opening hours.
Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said, “Combining the library and Connects services at the Mapplewell and Staincross Village Hall will provide additional access to services for people living in the area that were previously not available locally. I hope people in the area will make use of the additional facilities.”
During the closure period, books can be borrowed from or returned to any other library and no fines will be charged for items due back during that period.
