New Bus Route Added To Xscape

A NEW bus route has been added that will run between Barnsley and the popular Xscape at Castleford.

The X28 will run through Barnsley, Hemsworth, Pontefract and Castleford and is being run by Stagecoach.

It will use the Cudworth bypass and run directly between Shafton and Brierley – restoring the link to Regina Crescent in Brierley.

The route between Hemsworth and Pontefract is the same as the current 35 and it will run every hour. It will only stretch to the Xscape Complex on Saturdays.

Stagecoach spokesman Rupert Cox said: “We always take into account feedback from customer surveys with ideas of new routes and destinations, and a new service to Castleford was one such suggestion. It seems that an increasing number of people enjoy the facilities at Xscape and we expect the service to be extremely popular.”

The service launches on July 24 and it will run to Castleford for the first time on Saturday, July 28.

shame it dosnt go from town centre calling at all bus stops. if the 35 is being withdrawn what are the people who live out fitzwilliam way going to do if they work in barnsley

It's about time we had a bus back on regina crescent, it's not fair for the elderly to be expected to walk to shafton or up the steep hill to the next bus stop. Finally common sense prevails

Services 35 / 36 / 46 / 47 Barnsley – Hemsworth – Pontefract

• These routes are withdrawn and replaced by new services 28 28A, 29, 29A, 30, 30A and X28.

Basically all Stagecoach are doing is changing the service numbers
The 35 will now be chaning to number 28

How long will the x28 take to xcape castleford?
And will it be running during the week or only Saturday ?
