Assault Victim Suffers Serious Facial Injuries

A BARNSLEY man has suffered serious facial injuries after an assault in Royston.

The alleged attack happened on June 25 at around 12.30am at the Railway Club on Midland Road, Royston.

A 62-year-old local man suffered serious injuries to his face and mouth in the assault.

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident, he is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone who believes they may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 62 of the 25 June 2012, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

It's sick...what right has anyone got to lay a finger on another person? The 26yr old must have severe psychological problems. Even in an argument why do people resort to violence. Lock the offender up!

I am in my 20's and I am disgusted with the society we live in.This should not be happening in the 21'st century. This is thuggish behavior that no human being should ever face in their lifetime. I hope the gentleman makes a speedy recovery and that the thug gets sent down (not that jail is much of a punishment these days but it's the best we can do for now) Something has to change, things like this should not be happening.

Can't believe I'm reading this ! This is a 62 year old man !!!! Against a 26 year old ??? I'll argue all day long with anybody who I think is in the wrong, but it's gotta be two sided view. An equal footing. Who on earth thinks that it's okay to beat someone who is unable to put up an equal side. This fella obviously did something to rub him up the wrong way, but come on ??? If you wanna swing your fists about, make sure the other guy is at least able to offer some sort of fight back. I'm utterly ashamed to be (roughly) the same generation as this reprobate.

On reading the last comment, I know the story, but if was a different one and a 62 yr old had rubbed up a 26 yr the wrong way( which he didnt ) What right does a 26 yr old think he has in doing something like this to a pensioner Discusting and i hope more people step up and tell the truth

ray is 62 year old, What sort of scum bag could do that to a pensioner,not only was it from behind but with a bar stool. I wish I was there when it happend, He would never be able to him another man again. If this man is your mate then get him dobbed in. You don't want scum mates like that. wtf a split lip my arse he was in hospital for a week 8 fractures t face 5 teeth out at top plus bottom steel plates in both sides of face 20 odd stitches t mouth thats some split lip . was u ther take it u know something about this with your malicious comment hope it never happens t u
