Do you wear a poppy?

Wednesday November 8 2017

REMEMBRANCE Sunday takes place this weekend. This week's WAB Debate asks: Do you wear a red poppy, white poppy, or do you wear one at all?

After the First World War, the traditional red poppy was adopted as a symbol of remembrance, and has remained that ever since. Funds raised by the poppy appeal go towards the Royal British Legion.

According to the Peace Pledge Union, the white poppy "represents remembrance for all victims of war, a commitment to peace and a challenge to attempts to glamorise or celebrate war". However, some supporters of the traditional poppy appeal have criticised the white poppy for 'piggybacking' on the traditional poppy appeal.

However, some choose not to wear a poppy at all as a sign of protest against war.

Do you wear a poppy? If so, what colour and why?
