Family Opens Barnsley's Smallest Bar

A GOOD-HUMOURED family have spent two years building what they think is Barnsley's smallest bar.

The Tate family, from Ardsley, have converted their garage into 'Tate's Bar' which has a full size bandit, a mini wurlitzer, two beer pumps and all the spirits, flashing lights and even a sign.

Dad Graham, a taxi driver, said the grand opening last night was a family affair with wife Tracy pulling the first pint and son Aaron drinking it.

He said: "I'm throwing down the challenge now - I reckon we've got Barnsley's smallest bar. It seats a grand total of three.

"We've been at it for nearly two years now, doing bits here and there. So it was nice to finally get it open, all my mates are wanting to come and try it now."

Good on em! Might av to call in for a cheeky half! A mate of mine built one on his decking in his back garden a few summers ago. Needless to say it gets plenty of use! lol.

we have a bar in a summerhouse on our decking called murphys bar. we have a large tv, beer pumps, lights and pub tables and stools. its bigger than tates but has had lots of use for family parties. hope the tates have as much fun in theirs as we do in ours. well done the tates xx

Our friends at cudworth have had one in there cellar 20 years with 4 hand pumps being a head brewer also they have kitted out with wraparound setting tables and stools ... Even euthentic real opening window curtains with a sea view and working fire.... It's give you cosy traditional pub feel
