What do you want to see in the new Market Kitchen?

Friday October 13 2017

THE new Market Hall will feature a 600-seater food court and ten new food outlets - and you're being asked what kind of food you'd like to see served.

Market Kitchen will be on the upper floor of Market Hall, and will provide a different eating experience to the food retailers and restaurants that will be part of The Glass Works - focusing on independent cafes and food outlets rather than chain restaurants.

Market Kitchen will have a ‘from market to plate’ ethos, and will encourage its food outlets to source ingredients directly from the market itself or other local providers to support Barnsley’s economy.

The market currently has a selection of cafés which are to become a cornerstone of Market Kitchen, forming a key part of the new offer. At the same time, the council is looking for a range of new providers to occupy the remaining units, and wants to offer a broad range of cuisines to deliver a diverse dining experience.

To take part in the consultation, visit consult.barnsley.gov.uk or send feedback by emailing marketkitchen@barnsley.gov.uk.

The consulation closes on Thursday November 30 2017.

Anyone interested in operating a unit within Market Kitchen is asked to contact Barnsley Council by emailing marketkitchen@barnsley.gov.uk.
