Barnsley man pleads guilty to burglary and offences

A BARNSLEY man is facing time in prison after pleading guilty to burglary and assault.

Thirty-one-year-old Shane William Greenwood, of Burton Crescent, Monk Bretton, appeared before Barnsley Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday September 13), charged with two counts of burglary.

The charges relate to a break-in at Asda in Midland Road, Royston last month and the break-in of a house in Crookes Lane, Carlton.

Greenwood is also changed with one count of shoplifting, two counts of assault and one count of attempted criminal damage in relation to an incident at the Co-Op store in Wakefield Road last month during which two staff members were assaulted.

Greenwood pleaded guilty to all of the charges put to him and has been remanded into custody to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on October 4 2017.
