Students celebrate A level results

BARNSLEY'S students are celebrating a 99 per cent pass rate in this year's A level results - scores that put the town above the national average of 97.9 per cent.

Overall, Barnsley saw an increase in the percentage of pupils achieving three or more A levels at grades A* to E, with 91 per cent of students achieving this in 2017 compared with 88.8 per cent last year.

Penistone Grammar School is once again celebrating excellent results, with a number of students achieving the top A* and A grades, and securing places at first class universities including Oxford.

Barnsley Sixth Form College is celebrating another excellent set of A Level results with a 100 per cent pass rate in 21 subjects, including English, History, Chemistry, Geography, French and Sociology. Students achieved an overall 99 per cent pass rate.

Many of the college’s students are looking forward to starting higher education courses at universities including Lancaster, York and Manchester.
