Witnesses Sought To Critical Road Accident

Friday July 6 2012

A MAN is in hospital in critical condition after a car crash in Barnsley yesterday.

Police are appealing for information after a 21-year-old man from Darlington suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash with a blue Volvo HGV.

The accident happened at around 9.30pm (on July 5) on the M1 Southbound between junctions 38 and 37.

It is thought that a white Scania HGV attempted to overtake the Volvo HGV by pulling into the second lane - but the man's blue Honda Civic lost control, crashing into the rear of the Volvo.

The man is now being treated at the Northern General Hospital.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1254 of 5 July 2012.
