£250,000 Repairs To Park Spring Road

Friday August 26 2011

A ROAD which suffered severe flood damage in 2007 is going to finally be repaired as the council revealed it has secured funding to pay for it.

From Sept 1 for ten weeks, a speed limit of 40 MPH will be in place on Park Spring Road, near Little Houghton, as engineers carry out work to stabilise 130 metres of the road embankment north west of Ings Lane Bridge following flooding damage. Temporary traffic lights will also be introduced.

The £250,000 scheme will be funded by the Department for Transport.

Coun Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesman, said: "The works to the embankment are needed to repair damage done as a result of the extensive flooding in 2007. It has taken some time to agree funding for the scheme and it is the last of such flooding repairs to be done in the borough.”
