Tuesday July 3 2012
BARNSLEY college students have been praised for their hard work at the annual Excellence Awards that were presented last week.
The awards ceremony - at the Barnsley Metrodome - saw 27 awards handed out for students who had done exceptionally well. There was also praise for college departments and apprentices.
April Livesey, a Business Administration Apprentice impressed the judges with her commitment and dedication to her studies and work despite battling some health problems. She scooped a double gong - picking up the Overall Achievement Award as well as Apprentice of the Year.
She said: “The Excellence Awards are great for celebrating student achievement; being recognised with an award really makes you feel like your hard work is rewarded, it was a great night.”
Guests enjoyed a three course meal and entertainment including dancers, a violinist, an opera singer and diablo performance, all provided by students from the College’s Faculty of Media, Arts and Entertainment.
