Family Of Murder Victim Speak Out

Tuesday June 26 2012

The family of a teenager who died after being burned at a party of the weekend have spoken of their loss.

Steven Simpson, 18, was at a party on Pleasant View, Cudworth when he sustained significant burns on his body. He died on Sunday evening.

Steven's family said: "Steven had just turned 18 and was just starting out in life. Kevin and Jackie, Steven's father and Stepmother and Bernadette his mother can not describe the loss they all feel at this time. Steven was a very caring and lovely young man and will be missed by everyone that knows him."

Police are now awaiting results from the post mortem and say they expect to release further information from his family tomorrow.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday; three men, aged between 19-years-old and 39-years-old and three teenagers aged between 16-years-old and 17-years-old, all from Barnsley.

The 16-year-old female was released due to insufficient evidence and the remaining five people were bailed.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was at the party on Pleasant View on Friday 22 June into Saturday morning and anyone else who may have information about the incident. Please call 101 quoting incident number 158 of 23 June.

So sad. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear. I hope that justice is served and the people who did it get punished in the most awful way.

My thoughts and love go out to his family and friends

RIP Steven

Nice to see that we judge without hearing evidence.  to quote: "and the girls whos been released without charge... don't think your getting away with it lightly the amount of shit you will get will be what you deserve, hope they all suffer from what they did/saw." Can I just remind you that this girl is exactly that....... a girl. She was released because there was insufficient evidence to prove she had any involvement.  I'm not condoning in fact my heart breaks for the family.  Just think before you write, as you run the risk of sounding like a dingle,

I cant imagine there being such cruel a person such has the scum bag's who did this to a poor young lad, it makes me feel sick........... the people involved should be given the same punishment, life imprisonment is too easy, and the girl released should be named and shamed because no doubt she would have had some involvment, regardless of lack of evidence, it's pure evil, and there not human beings to be able to inflict so much pain and torture towards another human being............. My heart goes out to the poor family left with this incident scared in their minds for the rest of there life !!! R.I.P to the poor lad that left this world way too early and under such cruel and painfull circumstances........ GOD BLESS YOU !!!

The people involved in this sickening incident should never be allowed to` walk the streets again.
The poor man's family and real friends must be heart broken, I am and I was never fortunate enough to know this young man. It makes me feel sickened and frightened for my children and everyone else I hold dear, it appears sections of society have no regard for anyone else but themselves and  enjoy watching others suffer.
Also we need to discover why this young man spent the last few hours of his life travelling from one hospital to another to receive treatment. Have the cuts to the NHS assisted in this tragic loss of life????

This may be a very sad story and I feel for the family & friends of Stephen -- BUT, can people not express concerns without the foul language on a public site?

Come on WAB get the site cleaned up -- for instance, look at the word below -- people can be arrested for using that word !!!

Didn't anyone at the party try to put the flames out ?  What utter, cowardly, pieces of extrament they are and I hope they pay the price for doing such a horrible, heinous act.  Had a good laugh, did you ?  You sub-human scum.  That poor, poor, boy who was an innocent lad  - unlike you, whoever you are !  You should also be burnt and I hope you have a horrible life !   Deepest sympathy for his poor parents.
