Sell Out Musical Returns to Barnsley
Tuesday June 19 2012
A MUSICAL comedy about a club trip written by a local musician will be returning to Barnsley this Summer.
The Old Club Trip - about a 1961 coach trip - was written by Dave Cherry and is in aid of Barnsley Hospice and has raised almost £20,000 the last two times it was performed.
The production will be held at the Lamproom Theatre July 17 to July 21 and has been sponsored by bus company Stagecoach.
Dave said: “Stagecoach’s sponsorship is tremendous and, without it, the coach trip wouldn’t be going anywhere. In times of financial difficulty and cuts, real credit must go to the company for supporting the show in this way.
“There are three new songs in it this year, ‘A Barnsley lass’, ‘Rarnd Tarn’ and ‘The Pudding Burners’ – the last one is a term for women who go out drinking on a Sunday afternoon and when the men want their dinner the Yorkshire puddings are burnt.
“Tickets are already selling fast and hopefully this year’s show will appeal to those who’ve seen it before and also those who missed the bus last time round.”
Tickets, priced at £10 for adults and £9 for concessions, are available from the Lamproom, Barnsley by calling 01226 200075.
