Helicopter Treat For Jump Tot
Friday June 1 2012
A PRIMARY school pupil got an unexpected treat when he was invited into the cockpit of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Four-year-old George Thorpe saw the chopper when his mum Tracy Wheeldon picked him up from Jump primary last week. They followed it and saw it had landed on a field near Elsecar.
Tracy, 27, of Cemetery Road, Jump, said: "As we walked towards it the very kind pilot opened the door and said come and have a look. As soon as George was in there he was in his element.
"The pilot was really nice and he spent his time showing him around. George was well pleased. I've had a happy little boy since."
A spokesman for the air ambualnce service said they had answered a call after a man had fallen from a ladder and suffered a head injury. He was taken to Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for treatment.
