Plans to open a console gaming centre in Barnsley

Tuesday August 18 2015

A MAN from Darfield is hoping to create a community of gamers by getting people out of their rooms and back playing together.

Josh Slack has plans to open a console gaming centre in Barnsley under the name GAMMA - for people of all ages and interests.

He said: "The first step is running a full weekend fundraising gaming event which will give everyone an idea of what's to come.

"GAMMA has always been about bringing social gaming back to life and what better way to kick things off then a full weekend of play time?"

The event will be held at the Hotspot Lounge between 10am and 11pm on Saturday, September 5 and between 10am and 6pm on Sunday, September 6.

Trying to get people to do something outside, that is designed for inside, such as this is not a good move. Before the internet was so popular you might have been onto something, right now, you are about 10year behind in terms of where the industry is going.

There are many social gaming groups, clans or whatever you want to define them as, they all follow the same route. Meet online, get to know eachother and then meetup after you have played together for a few year.

Sounds like a good idea to me, anything that can potentially breathe new life into the old town, and bring people together :)
