An still there not sorting out, old mill lane near car pnone wearhouse and all the way up wakefield rd, that rd is a disgrace!

That is because Barnsley Council have not bought the land required to finish the job

Reply Posted by bsem on Friday October 12 2012 at 20:55
Well they should bloody well get their hands in their pockets and get it sorted. Its been far too long waiting for 'normal' traffic to resume. Worst thing they ever did was to put lights in middle of wakefield road. Delays for delays sake - i think they only did it then to use money up a end of financial year.

Its going through the courts as the person who was selling the land has decided he wants alot more for it than he originally said and agreed on.

a decision has been agreed, it's not the council's fault at all, they had permission and did everything right. Work is aimed to be completed in 6 months

wow only sixth months after a year of inconveinience. well done barnsley council. On behalf of the people of Barnsley I would like to congratulate the highways department on the sterling job that has only taken 12 months so far and will only take another sixth months to do. The people of Burton Bank will be amazed at the clean air they will now be able to breathe, I for one will miss the queueing around wickes now or smithies where the traffic lights are not set to let enough cars through. Thank you for the speedy service and excellent communication throughout.

How can it not be the Council's fault? and they obviously can't have done everything right. Should have been signed and sealed before commencing work. Haven't they heard of gazumping. Bunch of muppets, The premium that's been paid together with associated costs ought to be a matter of public record.

Aaron, you obviously haven't heard of Freedom of Information - Public spending is open to public request.

There are presently temporary traffic lights and alternate one way traffic on Hill Street, Elsecar near Elsecar Railway Station. The bridge over the railway is soon to be replaced and will involve road closure whilst the work is being carried out. Diversions will be necessary between Hoyland and Elsecar when the road is totally closed.

Can't believe they're closing grange lane, especially through the day and on a weekend! I'll now have to go into town just to go to monk bretton from work, which will take me double the time it would have to got normal way up grange lane. Definitely a stupid idea.

AAnd what's with the stupid traffic lights at alhambra roundabout? what a waste of money they are there is just no point in them at all.

Reply Posted by steve on Friday January 4 2013 at 11:28
Traffic lights are the Council's stock answer to any problem, if they want to build houses on a site next to a chock a block road - install traffic lights; if they want to allow a supermarket to be built on an already overcrowded road -install traffic lights. They then operate 24/7 and you can be stuck there at quiet times wasting time and petrol while they go through their unnecessary cycle. This won't change until the people of Barnsley can be bothered to vote in different people, or better still get involved themselves.

Having lived on Old Mill Lane for almost 8 years now we are again having roadworks for about the 10th time. When Barnsley college was being constructed work was starting between 6 and 7am , including weekends, and when we contacted the college on numerous occasions we were told someone would get back to us and they never did. I know work has to be done but they should also take into consideration the residents near by

Unfortunatley BMBC are under the impression that they are not answerable to anyone even though thay are "Civil Servants" If only we could get rid of them all and them offer them their jobs back on merit! Not talking about the majority rank and file, I am talking about the Shirkers and jobs worths and the man with the Traffic light stamp!

traffic control lights have just appeared at the end of Caxton Street on Old mill Lane, (downhill direction). Some road works about to start it seems,. Anyone any ideas whats happening? This almost outside our house and we have had no warning. The road has only just been resurfaced too......what gives here?

were does it say grange lane is closing? and as for rest get ya selves a 4x4, its one of main reasons i wouldnt drive anything else, gently move the cones with front bumper, and proceed, alternatively drive over the sand and gravel mounds or genty move the plastic fencing, also grass verges and pavements are more accesable and i have noticed rhey aee much smoother rhan carriageway, please check for pedestrians tho people thanx

It was the same when the romans built the roads they used to put bollards and traffic lights up .yawn.......half of all traffic on the roads weighs more than 8 ton you imagine how these roads get hammered minute by minute and day by day just to get food to supermarkets and for you to go to the supermarket and the old dears drivin to bingo and the losers who get into ther cars and drive 100 yds to the off licence then some **** has a gas leak so they have to dig the road up to fix it then theres a water leak so they have to dig the road up then theres subsidence...then theres fault lines. theres always something going off somewhere...and all people can do is moan about a few delays.
And then say i pay my road tax ..........
How many feet of road do you think 100 to 200 quid a year pays for......about 10 feet
