Charity Shop Push For Barnsley Hospice
Thursday May 24 2012
BARNSLEY Hospice is doing a major push for its charity shops after it emerged the hospice shops make £900,000-a-year.
Barnsley Hospice - which cares for local people with a variety of conditions - is running a campaign to encourage more people to donate to its charity shops.
Although it admits its charity shops trade well - they brought in £900,000 last year - there is still a lot of money the charity has to make to keep operating, around £1.9 million a year.
Retail and fundraising manager Dawn Charlesworth said: “What we want to do is get the word out about how important our shops are to us to raise money, especially to those people who might not have thought of donating goods to us before.
“All the money spent in our hospice shops helps people in Barnsley at a time in their lives when they need it the most.”
