Volunteers Needed To Spring Clean Royston

Monday May 14 2012

VOLUNTEERS are being recruited to help with a community clean up campaign in Royston this week.

Clean-ups have been planned to take place every day - in morning and afternoon sessions - at locations across the village.

Coun Graham Kyte - who volunteered on the clean-up today - said: “Lots of people love their village and we’ll be asking them how else they would like to see their local environment improved.

“The clean-up will signal a wider programme of activities designed to enhance the community in coming months. These will include repairs to street furniture, a blitz on dog-fouling, Royston Proms and a gala.”

Gloves and litter-pickers will be provided as well as drinks and biscuits. The locations for the spring clean are:

Tuesday (May 15): 9.30am, Woodroyd Avenue area (meet at Carlton car park); 12.30pm, Kirk Cross Crescent and Ring O Bells area (meet at the bottom of green).

Wednesday: 9.30am, Buckingham Way (meet at the Cross Inn); 12.30pm, Applehaigh View area (meet at the Cross Inn).

Thursday: 9.30am, Cropton Road area (meet at Co-op car park); 12.30pm, Doles Avenue area (meet at Manor Court).

Friday: 9.30am, Park View and Cross Lane area (meet at the Royston Park car park).
