Plans to replace historic building revealed

Thursday May 14 2015

A SHOP building which dates back to the 1800s could be demolished to make way for housing.

The old village shop on Haigh Laigh in Hoylandswaine dates back to 1850 but the building has been vacant since the 1990s and has fallen into disrepair.

John Crosby has approached Barnsley Council to seek permission to demolish the building, and replace it with a new four-bedroomed home.

Planning documents show that little of the original building actually remains due to work that's gone in over the years.
