Overflowing Bin Labelled As A 'Disgrace' By Trail Users

Monday February 16 2015

AN unemptied bin has been labelled as a 'disgrace' after it was left surrounded by bags of dog muck.

Disgusted Penistone residents discussed the state of the bin, at the Eastfield Avenue entrance to the Trans Pennine Trail, on Facebook.

Elizabeth Lang posted: "The entire trail through Penistone centre is an embarrassment, littered with rubbish and utilised as a giant communal canine toilet."

Matthew Coldwell added: "That bin is a disgrace. Why can't these dog owners take it home with them if the bin is clearly overflowing?"

Other residents disagreed with Mr Coldwell's comments and suggested Barnsley Council should do more.

Barnsley Council spokesman Coun Roy Miller apologised for any inconvenience caused.

"We arranged for the bins in the Penistone area to be emptied as a matter of urgency," he said.
