AN architect behind the completion of a part-built apartment block which has loomed over Barnsley town centre for six years expects all 86 apartments to sell in the summer.

The Skyline development, formerly the City Reach building, is now well underway with work now starting on its seventh floor.

The development, at the junction of John Street and Burleigh Street, near Morrisons, was abandoned at the height of the recession.

However, the concrete skeleton was then bought by Superior Living Limited for £375,000 in 2013.

Architect Paul Jackson said: "We're working our way up to the seventh floor now. It's nearly finished and will probably be completed towards the end of the summer.

"There will be 13 apartments on each floor and they're lovely inside, very nice and modern.

"The ones overlooking the town have really nice views, but the ones overlooking the courtyard also have nice open views. We expect them all to sell."
