A 20-20 cricket match at Great Houghton Sports and Social Ground between a Mayor's Eleven and officers from Barnsley Council raised £177 for three good causes.

Proceeds from a raffle held during the interval of the Sunday afternoon contest, together with donations and a cricket ball auction will support the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Arthritis Care and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

All three have branches in Barnsley and are the recipients of funds raised by this year's Mayor Charity.

The Mayor, Karen Dyson, said: "Despite a showery and breezy start, the match soon developed into a keenly fought contest between two skillful teams. Both sides performed well with the bat, and at the close the Mayor's Eleven claimed victory with a score of 160 runs from their allotted 20 overs."

The teams are pictured with the Mayor, and Consort Coun Martin Dyson.
