MORE than 100 Barnsley College teachers and lecturers are expected to be on strike this week.

The dispute is over a new contract which the union UCU says cuts pay for new staff and will create division among staff due to a 'two-tier' pay structure.

It's expected to disrput classes Wednesday and Thursday.

Colin Booth, Barnsley College principal, said: "The college will be open and operating as normal on both Wednesday and Thursday."

Some lecturers have had to sign new 0 hour contracts or lose their jobs.

So lecturers who probably get paid more in a month than I do in 2 are going on strike???? It figures!!!! The staff there when I went to that college were always too bothered about what they got paid instead of actually teaching us and never was bothered if we passed or not. I learnt more in a month in my job than I did in a whole year in college. If you ask me some staff deserve to.loose their jobs to wake upto reality and realise how lucky they are getting paid what they get paid.
