Barnsley Man Shifts Eight Stone To Win Bodybuilding Contest

Thursday November 27 2014

A BARNSLEY man has won his first ever bodybuilding contest - after shedding eight stone.

Chris Wroe beat men from all around the UK in the National Amateur Bodybuilding Association (NABBA) show earlier this month at Batley Frontier Club.

It took the Brierley man eight months of dieting to get down to contest condition.

The 33-year-old, who runs Supplement Hut on Racecommon Road, said: "Entering a bodybuilding competition was something I always wanted to do but something always got in the way.

"This year I finally decided to do it but in an effort to bulk up the previous year I got seriously out of shape so I had a massive job to do to diet down to contest condition."

Before he started his diet, Chris' weight had rocketed to 23 stone but by the time he went in for the contest, he was down to about 15 stone of pure muscle.

Because of his victory, Chris has now received an honorary invitation to compete at the Mr Britain finals next June.

Well done on weight loss. BUT you look gross!! Make me feel sick when I saw the pic in the chronicle last week. It's not natural to look like that. It's vanity, how they can look in a mirror and think they look good is beyond me. And women look even worse!! But each to their own!!! But not my cup of tea.

I think he looks terrible good on him for the weight loss but he doesn't look nice now at all he reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger but just a bit more ugly

Shut ya trap man! Saying he don't look good and then saying he looks like Arnie in the same sentence is a massive contradiction The greatest and best built body builder to ever walk the planet, come on you just gave him the biggest compliment you could! Well done Chris! Good job man!

I find people's negativity very disrespectful if you have nothing better to say then don't bother saying anything at all @Ada if you knew Chris for starters he is not vain in the slightest he doesn't wear tight tops showing off his muscles saying look at me, he does not brag about his physique,he has just entered a competition that he's always wanted to and done it as a personal achievement to which he succeeded, you must have a really weak stomach if looking at a picture like this makes you sick, so what if it's not natural to look this way it's nothing to do with you & @Chelsea you have done nothing but given Chris a massive compliment comparing him to Arnie you obviously know nothing about the bodybuilding world to know that Arnie is one of the worlds greatest body builders ever!!! You should be proud of Chris for representing Barnsley and WINNING regardless what the competition is!!!
