Counter Terrorism Officers To Hold Talks With Retail Workers

Monday November 24 2014

COUNTER terrorism officers are to talk with workers in Barnsley about the heightened threat level.

A letter from South Yorkshire Police has been issued to businesses regarding the threat, which comes as a result of Islamic State tensions in Iraq and Syria.

Det Insp Colin Wilson said: "The briefing is intended to bring staff up to date with the current threat levels as well as providing practical advice and assistance in identifying and reporting suspicious activity."

The meeting is on November 26 from 9am to 12noon.

Businesses are asked to email a list of those wishing to attend to jonathan.brook@southyorks.pnn.police.uk.

Will there also be a meeting for members of the public? If we are at risk of terrorist attack, then I'd personally like to know more, so that I can change my behaviour accordingly to minimise any risk of being caught up in such trouble.

You'd expect London or some other highly populated area to be at risk, but if Barnsley is at risk I'd like to know, and then instead of shopping in the town I can avoid it completely and instead travel to somewhere safer.

Is Barnsley really at risk, or is this just part of a campaign of fear-mongering to get the public to support further loss of liberty/freedom, increased state powers over citizens or perhaps to gain support for the deployment of troops and the start of a new war/conflict for economic/political/ideological reasons.

Aren't the government proposing again that they have increased powers to spy on citizens, detain them without charge etc. in order to fight the 'terror'.

While ever some goverment's are wage masters to certain terror groups, while ever extremism are aloud to preached in our places of worship hatred, things will not stop. Where there is a massive gap between two cultures there will always be the hate and war munger s on both sides. It's up to each and everyone of us to be vigilant, tolarance for each other is the only way forward, I truly believe that to bridge this gap we must move forward to a world that is more equal between the rich and poor, a tolarance to all races and religions no matter what your own beliefs may be. We must never let extremism take hold whether its in politics, religion, or in your own street.
