Scares me to death what today's world is becoming. Why can't people just go out and have a drink n a laugh without having to witness or be involved in violence. My kids are only toddlers but I already worry about the day they are old enough to go our drinking!! Hope the lad pulls though n thoughts are with his family

There have always been trouble making loonies in Tarn and always will be - just like any other place, they get too much drink and think they are the big I AM. It was the same 20 years ago and my dad and grandad said it was like that when they were young.

Public houses or should I say the multi million pound making brewing companies need to be held more accountable for the activities that occur on there premisies, drug taking is now viewed as the norm by the youth who go into barnsley for a night out,so on this account would suggest a more proactive door persons, then secondly the brewing companies need to made to foot the bill that its costs on the NHS to treat the inebriated youths ,possibly on a 50/50 footing .I personally would favour a more as other countries do charge alcohol at higher amounts hence enforcing a more responsible attitude to alcohol.

HMRC makes more out of alcohol than the brewing companies, who make very little in the grand scheme of things. And they produce the product.

A pint shouldn't be more than £1.

A pound a pint it is tom ,but there is a price to pay you have to work in a and e and see someone being stitched up who has been glasses, you have to watch someone being cut out of a car,you have to sit with little johnny and watch his drunken father beating the hell out of his mother.tom alcohol has to go the other way make supermarkets charge more and the pubs also, however I do agree with the hmrc as regards fuel costs abolish road tax and put that cost onto fuel the more you use the roads the more you pay .

The chronicle should do some undercover work and prove beyond doubt by naming these public houses that deal in such ways, then the police need involving and licences need revoking for these dens which help promote the brutality to ones fellow man on an evening out,

just to set the record straight the door staff dealt with the situation and got the emergency services to the guy. If anyone that's commenting as never worked on the doors you haven't got a clue what happens it hard to stop assaults you don't know who's going to hit anyone. Oh and what it doesn't state I this article but the police know who's done it

surprise, surprise!? Yet another brutal assault in tarn!? Half the time, the bouncers do nothing, and they lie to protect those they know as well! It's about time the police stepped up for the safety of innocent folk trying to have a good night out by insisting all bars in town have working CCTV......inside and out!!! Too many thugs get away with appalling behaviour nowadays due to lack of evidence, made up stories and support from the bouncers. Makes my blood boil!!

Why does everyone seem to think CCTV is the miracle cure to Barnsley's idiots round town problem? Most clubs (and certainly all of wellington street), already have a ton of CCTV and it hasn't stopped this attack, nor does it deter them from attacking. Why would anyone wanna give South Yorkshire Police a watching eye over us with the history we have with them and with whats happened recently in Rotherham? Lazy solution to a complicated problem, just as their solution to anti social behaviour in the town centre by young kids is to ban under 16's from being in town after 6.

Do you not get it! They have CCTV!!!! It was caught on CCTV! The bouncers followed procedures!

Pubs should shut at twelve and those wanting to stay out go to night clubs as they had to years before.. Drunks sent home, well dressed people alowed in to enjoy themselves in a safe atmosphere..

If they was all stoned instead of drunk it wouldn't have happened FACT

Too many idiots in tarn eating steriods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They all look the same aswell.. skinny legs and walking round with carpets under there arms thinking there rock hard. He should get locked up for attempted murder and hopefully gets a taste of his own medicine in jail.

Alcohol is as bad as any drug if not worse simply because its available from every shop on every street in the country, why do people have to drink at all?why is one socially acceptable and the other not when both are equally as damaging to your body, mental health and everyone around you

Close most of pubs open cannabis cafes and see how more laid back town centre gets. And the money made from it could fund the development of the town to accommodate all the People that would be visiting.

have ever worked on the doors you don't know what your talking about I've worked the doors for the last 12 years 10 of which was with 2 of the doormen that was on that door that night and there a good set off lads. Don't tar everyone with the same brush.

i was in digital on Friday and saw two middle aged dark skinned men hit the deck but I didn't see anyone hit him i tried to help him when he fell but instead was dragged away by the door men. And then saw the door men drag the poor man by his arms to the back door and outside. Door men should be first aid trained because then they would know not to of move him but instead try bring him round

Reply Posted by Doorman on Monday October 20 2014 at 12:57
Doormen aren't really there to look after you, they are they to protect the interests of the club, so if someone hits the deck and wont get up, it looks bad on the club/pub so they get taken to a quiet private area and then the first aid commences. you have to keep the money flowing

Too many people rely on drink/drugs or both, alcohol is as bad as any drug and should be treated as such,i notice my first comment was removed although not sure why,
