Barnsley Business Announces Expansion

Monday April 2 2012

A BARNSLEY business that makes multi-sensory equipment for schools and nursing homes has forecast a 20 per cent increase in turnover for the year ahead.

Experia - based at Park Springs - have invested more than £50,000 in new machinery and has taken on four new staff to help with the launch new portable versions of the equipment, including the Sensory Express in the shape of a train.

Products include bubble tubes, fibre optics, projectors, and equipment for softplay areas, sensory gardens and multi-sensory pools; much of it controlled wirelessly by the user.

Gareth Jones, managing director, said: “People may have one sense impaired, but the others can balance that out. And seeing something as simple as someone who struggles to do much for themselves being able to change the colour of the bubble tube is uplifting and humbling at the same time.”
