Thief Steals Boy's Wheelchair

Thursday September 4 2014

A BARNSLEY mum has labelled the thief who stole her son's wheelchair as 'scum'.

Rachel Wrigley's 11-year-old son Regan Archer was born with myotubular myopathy, a congenital disease that causes severe muscle weakness.

The disease means he cannot go out of his Thurnscoe home unless he is in his wheelchair.

Regan, who relies on the manual chair, has used for the past 12 months.

However two weeks ago Rachel left the wheelchair underneath the car port at the side of their home on Oak Road and it was stolen.

"I left it right outside the side door," said Rachel, 35. "It's a manual wheelchair, it's not a fancy electric model and quite honestly I really did not think that anyone, no matter how low, would possibly think of stealing it.

"When I realised what had happened I was furious, but very very upset at the same time.

"I mean what sort of person steals a wheelchair, any kind of wheelchair - what could possibly be their motive?

"I would like to look whoever did this in the eye and tell them they're scum, evil... the lowest of the low."

Racheal I do believe that there are evil and vile people walking this earth But to take a little boys independence away from him they shouldnt be able to walk again and see how they fair themselves. I truley hope someone out in our town may replace or even buy your son a new one He deserves his life back like any of us Good luck love If I had the money myself I would go and buy your boy a new one xxx

It was probably metal thieves!! They'll snatch anything if its not nailed down...my little lad popped home for a drink for 10 seconds and a metal thief threw his bike on back of his wagon and sped off with it!
They are disgusting! God bless your little lad x
