We Are Barnsley's Easter Survival Guide

We Are Barnsley knows you will be busy over the Easter period, so we’ve compiled one of our famous survival guides.

We’ve contacted everyone we could think of to get you information on need-to-know items like chemist and dentists opening, bus services and bin collections.

Doctors
GPs in the borough will be closed over the Easter break and people seeking an appointment are asked to call their regular practice for pre-recorded details of what to do and how to be seen. Patients are advised not go to Barnsley Hospital.

Dentists
The emergency dental service on 0845 155 0845 will be running an out-of-hours service as follows:
Good Friday – 12.30 - 5.00pm
Saturday (April 7) – 12.30 – 5.00pm
Easter Sunday – 12.30 – 5.00pm
Easter Monday – 12.30 – 5.00pm

Chemists
A limited number of pharmacies will be open over the Bank Holiday. These are:

Good Friday
Asda Pharmacy, Old Mill Lane - 9 – 6 pm

Boots, Cheapside - 8.30 - 5.30pm

Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd, Midland Street - 8.30 - 8pm

Tesco Instore Pharmacy, Wombwell Lane - 11 - 4pm

Weldricks Pharmacy, Goldthorpe - 9 - 12.30pm.

Easter Monday
Asda Pharmacy, Old Mill Lane - 9 – 6 pm

Boots, Cheapside - 10 - 4pm

Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd, Midland Street - 8.30 - 8pm

Tesco Instore Pharmacy, Wombwell Lane - 11 - 4pm

If you require an emergency prescription your GP will advise you of which chemists can dispense them. Barnsley Hospital's dispensing pharmacy will not be available during the Bank Holiday period.

Barnsley Connects

Barnsley Connects offices will be closed on April 6, April 7 and April 9.

Libraries
Libraries will be closed on April 6, April 7 and April 9.

Bins
Bins will be emptied on their normal scheduled days - waste and recycling will be collected on Good Friday and Saturday as per householders' normal schedule.
Waste and recycling centres are open - they only close on Christmas Day Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

For petrol.. Cathill Services at Darfield are open today.

Rang dental line, looks like loads of people have teeth problems. Mine has been hurting for a week, went to my dentist who gave me antibiotics which arent working and neither is the Dental gel i bought the other day. Think the tooth which was drilled out too much and then filled is causing me more pain. Got orthodontics on the 18th but cant cope with this pain until then

Rang NHS Direct Easter Sunday at 2:45 pm, was told I would be contacted shortly,am still waiting!!!!!  What their definition of a short while is I will never know.
