College's Deputy Principal Takes On Challenge

Thursday September 4 2014

BARNSLEY College's deputy principal took on the ALS ice bucket challenge during enrolment in front of students and staff.

Chris Webb removed his footwear, made sure his valuables were safe and allowed principal Colin Booth and vice principal Dave Harding to pour a large bucket of iced water over his head for charity.

Motor neurone disease (MND), also known as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), is a progressive disease that attacks the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

Chris said: "The MND Association is a great cause and the ice bucket challenge is easy to do. The fundraising can make a massive difference to those suffering from the disease.

"I thought it was a fun way to kick off the new academic year and get people involved after the summer break, plus I can never turn down a challenge."
