Love Story Starts In Walkabout

Friday September 12 2014

BARNSLEY lass Hannah Kenworthy flew around the world after meting the love of her life in the town's Walkabout bar.

Hannah, 31, met her husband and former Walkabout manager Matt Parker on a night out.

After holidaying in his hometown of Hobart, Tasmania, the pair have since moved there, got jobs, bought a house and got married.

They are expecting their first child in March.

The former Holgate English teacher loves living in what she calls a "beautiful place, unspoiled by tourism".

"Life here is very laid back and relaxed," she added. "The people are really friendly and will chat to you about anything and everything, which reminds me a lot of the locals in Grimethorpe."

Hannah said she misses being surrounded by people who sound the same as her and is also hoping to squeeze a few Barnsley FC games in when she comes back to visit in September.

Reminds her of locals in Grimethorpe?

If you read the Chronicle story I said the people here remind me of original Grimethorpe folk. There's plenty of people who have lived all their life there and never been a drug addict or a chav. Myself and family included.
Typical ignorant comments made by small minded folk. Be interesting to know what you have done with your life? Hmm. I'm sure I can guess.

I don't know this couple but wish them Health & Happiness for the future and along with their new baby.

It's nice to hear good news has for the people that have nothing nice to say. I would think your life is what you make it that's why you are so disturbed

Great story it's nice to see something positive about Barnsley people ! Wishing them all the luck in the world can imagine if they see some of the above above comments she will be glad she left such negative and uneducated people !!

What's saddest about those negative comments is that friends and people here have read the article and can see the comments so could give the wrong impression. Luckily, the good comments and support are what real Barnsley people are like- salt of the Earth. X
4 days and I'll be back home in Grimey for my first visit! Xxx

I've know Hannah almost all my life and had the pleasure of visiting her in Tassoe while I was on holiday from my job in Korea. She's a terrific ambassador for what Tassoe has to offer, but she still always speaks of Barnsley and Yorkshire fondly and hasn't forgot where home is.

Sorry I'll miss you in Grimey Hannah x
