MP Calls For A Ban On Wild Animals In Circuses

Monday August 18 2014

Michael Dugher MP Michael Dugher MP

A BARNSLEY MP has called on the government to ban wild animals in circuses.

Draft legislation to ban wild animals in circuses was introduced in 2013, but the government failed to include it in this year’s Queen's Speech.

Michael Dugher, MP for Barnsley East, said: "Travelling circuses are no place for wild animals. No circus could ever provide a suitable environment or meet the particular needs of wild animals such as elephants or lions.

"That’s why the government should stop dragging their feet and get on with introducing the necessary legislation to ban the use of wild animals in circuses."

Oh Hey Up, he's here again...

Nevermind naffing circus's what about cutting the towns youth unemployment Dugher!

Get off the Gravy Train and get out and about in your constituency and ask people about the more pressing issues like jobs etc etc Instead of fannying around on your laptop in London!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I rest my case.

STOP VOTING THIS IDIOT IN!

Good god, give the man a break! He is trying to do a good thing in ending the abuse of animals in Circuses, and all you can do is slate him. Take a look at some of the undercover videos of the abuse and violence against these animals, then say this isn't a good thing. Christ the man is capable of having views on may subjects isn't he?

And Stevo, if SOME of those youths had bother to get themselves an education, and qualifications, perhaps they would be EMPLOYABLE...and not job hunting at KFC and McDonald's...

Reply Posted by STEVEO on Tuesday August 19 2014 at 08:24
And Rog, if "employment agencies" stopped SYSTEMATICALLY DISCRIMINATING against the youth of this borough born and bred in this town by ONLY actively sending migrant workers to client workplaces then perhaps they would gain FRUITFUL EMPLOYMENT.

Rog you have made me a tad annoyed with your pathetic little speech, there are people who work at mcds and kfc who go to college and university so therefore are getting an education and a wage whats your problem with that exactly!!

Rog - I worked at McDonalds to get me some spare cash whilst studying for a degree in Manchester, This was a good experience and learning the value of money, I now work for the MOD and a very successful and rewarding job, McDonalds was a good way of meeting people and gave me some self respect and a bit of cash so I could go out and treat myself. Got to be better then sat in uni digs miles away from home and relying on family to get me by,

This time steveo your wrong you have let your hatred for this MP rule your reasoning I have no qualms in supporting this MP on the above subject having wild animals in a circus for the entertainment of the audience is cruel and disgusting and should be banned they should be in there own environment. I know some one will say well what about zoos but because of mans inhuman attempt to wipe some wild animals of the face of the earth zoos are a necessity for the salvation of endanged animals

what do you think animals rights have been doing for years ? MP again looking has if he cares,,and some deluded followers think this will make a difference.. WAKE UP

Reply Posted by STEVEO on Friday August 22 2014 at 07:42
Hold on, what hatred?
I dislike many people but I don't hate them, this bloke it a buffoon.
Zoos will be around for hundreds of years after we have gone so get used to it.
What about the zoos that have amazing success in rearing endangered species and returning them back to the wild?
Is this not good for our planet?

STEVEO...There is not a single zoo in the world that has a programme of rearing endangered species and returning them to the wild...NOT ONE.

Reply Posted by Guido fawkes. on Saturday August 23 2014 at 10:51
there is plenty of sanctuaries/wildlife parks in the world that return them back to the wild. DONT YOU WATCH WILDLIFE DOCUMENTARIES.
