Its a grass snake - note the cream coloured collar, almost always present in grass snakes.

Its a grass snake, we found one in our kitchen 3 years ago, put my dogs and cat in the lounge and sat on a chair with legs up till the RSPCA came as i didn't know what it was. They came and told me what it was grass snake and was going to let it go at the bottom of the garden. I was worried that it might come back in the house so took it to wet land as that is was the RSPCA said they liked.

Hi the filmmaker here...we watched the snake for about five minutes before it spotted us and swam away. It was trying to swim/slither up a small weir...quite a remarkable specimen!

There are loads round res and on pits near boatmans rest, last yr counted 16 sightings just on our normal rounds. They all were grass snakes and just slithered off into the hedges/grass.

too big to be a grass snake, looks more like a pet snake or a British adder

Its a grass snake, and why on earth the need was felt to put a picture on THE INTERNET to try and identify the species is a mystery to me, when it took ONE SEARCH for me to find a picture of a grass snake that matched it! And people now who are ON THE INTERNET commenting that it's 'too big to be a grass snake' and that it 'might be an Adder' clearly have no clue how to use the internet for what it's actually for...no, it's not just for facebab, or porn, or freakin farmville...there is also INFORMATION here...lots and lots of it...jeeeez!

I seen an adult adder with its baby sunning themselves round back of same res 2 yrs ago and watched one swim across one of the shallow bays while fishing and supprisingly the ducks didnt pay it any attention but i couldnt identify which species the snake was.

It's a grass snake, not an adder, no black diamonds along it's back. We've got them laying eggs in our garden manure heap
