It's not the first time, last year my partner and son were told to leave a stagecoach bus because the smelt of burning, luckily they were nearly home.

This happened not long back on bus to goldthorpe passengers had to get off as the bus filled with smoke. It costs a lot to maintain a bus and the owners of the company don't seem to want to cough up and the drivers get the blame so they don't care very much.

Jordan- this comment could get the driver in serious trouble and i know the driver so know this is a lie!!!!

These thing's unfortunately happen , most buses are on the road 5/6/7 day's a week anything between 12 to 18 hours a day.

It's not a lie @ don't call me a Muppet u idiot.. there was me and another lad on back of bus last people off.. all you could see was smoke before we got off! How can you call me a lier when you wasn't there

If you're not a muppet why didn't you just use the emergency escape door at the back of the bus seen as though you were the 'big lads' at the back. You tool.

I could quite believe you was one of last off then seeing as you was sat at the back

The information stated in the chronicle was inaccurate and played down. There was more than 6 passengers, the bus was filled with smoke and yes the driver did leave the bus prior to all passengers. Surely there is a responsibility to ensure the safety of others and to provide reassurance. Perhaps i am a liar too or maybe witness statements should be forwarded rather than the driver and his wife slandering someones name stating there a liar.

The driver should have been the last off after making sure all passengers were safe after all as the saying goes the captain should go down with the ship

Yeah I'd like to see you stay on the bus whilst its on fire. The drivers aren't paid enough to sit and wait for the flames to come. Idiot.

These comments are what is wrong with the world today! Surely everyone should just be thankful that no one got injured.....

Laura.. it should be like that.. but no one likes to be called a lier thats the last thing I am!! No one should comment on what happened unless they was there.. the bus driver should not make out he did right when he should be the last of the bus.. and the "bus drivers wife" should ask her husband what happened and then consider who's lieing!!

Reply Posted by Truth on Tuesday June 10 2014 at 00:51
I am sure that everyone is thankful no one was hurt. However when you have been on a bus full of smoke and got off heard a loud bang then that experience is scary enough that people then did not stay around but walked to their destination. What is wrong is when an experience is shared with others and people find this amusing or disregard their statement.

would it be possible that the driver got off first to go check round the rear of the bus to inspect it

Reply Posted by T on Tuesday June 10 2014 at 10:49
Exactly @TC. Everyone just jumps to conclusions. Barnsley folk are so narrow minded some times.

Reply Posted by T on Tuesday June 10 2014 at 10:50
Yes @TC. It is the drivers responsibility to check the Vehicle. People in Barnsley are so narrow minded at times.

Instead of arguing over what went off on the bus, can we just be thankful no one was hurt and is safe.

The bus driver has to get off first to ring and report it..theyre not allowed to use there phone on the bus.

They is Stagecoach 222 bus that goes through Wombwell daily and the black smoke it pumps out is un-real. Surely the drivers log there complaint and if so whys the bus still allowed to go about its journey every day.
