Ardsley House Offers Wedding Refunds

Tuesday May 27 2014

COUPLES due to get married at Ardsley House have been offered a refund after 'significant losses' threatened the future of the hotel.

A review is being conducted to determine the viability of the hotel after August, putting 50 staff at risk of redundancy.

Operators St James's Hotel Group acquired the three-star hotel after the collapse of parent company Forestdale in March.

It confirmed couples with wedding bookings for August onwards had been contacted and offered a full refund for deposits and assistance with making alternative arrangements.

Sean Brookes, group operations director of St James’s Hotels Group, said nobody would be out of pocket and people who booked events before March would be reimbursed.

“No firm decision as to the future of the hotel has been made and a review process is underway. We can confirm that St James’s Hotels has offered the handful of customers who have made deposits for events full reimbursement, regardless of whether the deposit was made to Forestdale Hotels before we acquired the business in March.”

“Nobody will be out of pocket and we also are committed to helping them to secure alternative venues locally, if they wish us to do so. We want to make sure we act as responsibly as possible and give customers as much information and choice as we can, as we appreciate that a wedding is a once in a lifetime event.

“Unfortunately, the hotel is making very large losses despite the efforts of previous operators and ourselves. We have formally commenced a period of consultation with staff and management to fully investigate every option open to us and these do include the full closure of the business."
