A LANDLADY is raising money to save a dog's eyesight.

Lyndsey Smith, landlady of The Manx Arms on Sheffield Road, wants to raise £700 to put towards the £3,000 total it would cost for six-year-old Joey to have cataracts removed.

Joey, a Jack Russell, is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other, but could lose his vision altogether without the operation.

Joey - a stray who was found wondering the street - was fostered by Lyndsey from a kennel in Kilnhurst but had to return him because he didn't get on with other dogs.

She said: "He was a very happy little dog to say he's had so many problems - I was attached immediately.

"But we only had him for one night, it was heartbreaking when we had to give him back the next day."

Staff at the kennels have already raised £2,300 and Lyndsey, 35, became so attached to Joey she vowed to raise the remainder.

"I'm a big dog lover and I want the rest of his life to be like a normal dog's life, but he needs this operation."
