REDS captain Stephen Dawson has been arrested in connection with spot-fixing.

The 28-year-old, who joined Barnsley in January 2012 and has made 78 appearances, is understood to have been interviewed by police as part of an investigation into alleged bribery and money laundering.

The exact details and dates of the alleged offences have not been revealed.

The National Crime Agency, who arrested six other footballers as well as six original suspects, said: "The men arrested in addition to the original six are from Football League clubs based in the north west of England. All 13 individuals are being interviewed at police stations across the country."

A club statement said: "Barnsley Football Club is aware of reports in the media in connection with an investigation into individuals suspected of conspiracy to commit acts of bribery and money laundering relating to conduct during football matches.

"At this time the club has no further comment to make."

This is all we need in the final run, in form workhorse with his mind elsewhere. Stupid, no matter how innocent/guilty, to even put himmself in a position of suspicion but what happens now, we play Frimpong and are at risk of having ten men every game? Dawson is twice the player Frimpong is and seems to care about the team (or so it seemed) - I was shocked to here it was Daws after the initial news broke as 'a barnsley player' I'd have thought it would be Frimpong for cards or maybe Kennedy for losing posesion so much maybe to change the result - Dawson would have been at the bottom of my list. We need Dawson, Cywka and Noble-Lazarus on the pitch giving their all in these remaining games.

I wonder if Kelvin can play left back?
