A LOCAL pub has closed whilst it undergoes a major £500,000 transformation.

The Strafford Arms in Stainborough has been acquired by Fine and Country Inns who, in partnership with Punch Taverns, will fund the major refurbishment.

The work will take six weeks and when the pub re-opens, 30 new jobs will be created.

Gary Hunt, owner of Fine and Country Inns, said: "There's now a strong demand for high quality country pubs with restaurants. We plan to create a classical contemporary venue that has all the modern benefits whilst retaining the charm of its historic past."

Good news, providing it's more 'Fine and Country' than 'Punch Taverns'...
