Planning Permission Granted For New Homes

Friday May 2 2014

OUTLINE permission has been granted for 44 homes - despite the council originally rejecting the plans.

Planning permission has now been granted for the homes on an old steelworks site near Penistone train station.

Barnsley Council originally rejected plans for properties on a 1.4-hectare site on the former Cammell Laird foundry, off Lairds Way, Springvale, because of a potential loss of land which could be used to create jobs.

But the decision has been overturned on appeal, meaning the development can go ahead, subject to detailed plans being approved.

Good. There should be loads of new homes to the west of Barnsley. Instead of dumping them elsewhere in the borough.
